The winter of my (dis?) content.
 Entry Date: 11/8/2005
Well, as some of you know, Besides owning one of the most Kick Ass , fun, Bike Shops around. I also have a Regular job. Believe me, I would rather just work the shop, But this job is helping us grow. It is also a good way to help add funds to our racing budget. Yes, I work for some corperate conglomerate that helps another corperate conglomerate make everything from tooth paste to toilet paper and a whole lot more. I also have a pretty good position and am regarded highly by the "company". Unfortunatly this position calls on me to make sacrifices in my Bicycling life. So, for most of the winter I will be traveling between and living in Louisville Kentucky.
The shop is the very capeable hands of my brother and Nephew, so no one should have any worries. Plus with e mail and conference calls, and the internet, It is like I am still there anyway.
Well Fist let me say, there are no reaL mountains in this part of Kentucky. Lots of rolling hills. There are a ton of trails. Most of which are not big enough for my DH bike. I also have my Identiti with me, but it has been a while while since I trail rode on a hard tail. Especially since this bike is more dirt jump / street oriented. So I am hoping a nice bonus check will be in the mail , so I can get somthing a little more suited. I was surprised that there were so many comunity sponsored trails to ride on, as well as state parks with bike access all within an under 2 hour drive from Louisville. some are shared with horse people, but hey, this is the home of the Kentucky derby. Horses are Bigger than kentucky Bourbon around here. I am sure it will only be a matter of time till I hook up with some locals to find somthing Suitable fo the way that I like to ride.
There is a killer skate park here. I have seen it in videos, and will be seeing it friday in person. There is also an awsome bmx track that is open year round, weather permiting. I have also found a ski resort about 40 miles away in Indiana that runs night sessions on weekends up to and after mid night to 5 am for late night skiing. Now how awsome is that!!. The place has a pitiful 300 ft verticle drop, yes I said 300 ft!! But I am a worse boarder than I am a biker. Ther are several Hospitals close by.
I found a nice little house for my stay here. It is on top of a Hill in Indiana.overlooking the Ohio river and Louisville. It is Quiet and Private. sitting on 43 acres of trees. I have already been working on a jump line and a couple Downhill shoots. so all in all we will just have to wait and see. I may hit the Downhill trails in Tennessee before thay close for the season ,but that is like 5 hours away I believe. And dont know if it is a good Idea to travel alone, considering I am still nursing Injuries .
Well, I hope to have a great time on my stay here, meet some locals, ride some trails, and if I get real bored over the winter find a shop to hang at and do some part time mechanic work at to help keep the monkey fed.
any one with some trail suggestions or comments hit me at rixpi@ptd.net

later gators!!!!
