Well, it seems our pal Jimmy D' Is getting a whole lot of ride time in, as well as staying away from the computer. Once again you get to be bored by me. As another racing season is too quickly coming to an end, I have got to say that the Mid atlantic finals at Snowshoe was one big happy fest. The course, which was a very well groomed Norba pro course. I have to give it to Trevin, Kalen, and the rest of the guys. it was funtastic. This was one of the most, fun. technical, and get this, safe courses I have ever rode. The stupid deadly loose rocks were almost non existant. The berms were smooth, the transitions were perfect, and for the scared to go big, the go atrounds were not just an afterthought. A lot of course builders shold take note on how well this course was set up.
No matter how safe a course can be, there were still a few injurys. Most not too serious. on what would end up as my last practice lap. I was coming around the finish line turn, and bam. My bike for some unknown reason slammed me hard into the ground. when I hit hard on my shoulder i heard the distinct pop of a classic dislocation. About a half second later the bike came around and slammed into my back. As luck would have it, the force of the hit knocked my shoulder back in, and left a huge bloody imprint of my pedal on my ass. I now temproarily have a sore shoulder and a third ass cheek. Speaking of my ass. about 200 yard before my crash while rolling a drop that I should have dropped. my pants got caught on my tire and got pulled completely down. There I was standing in the middle of the trail bare assed trying to get my shorts untangled from my bike. I can only imagine what the guy who passed me out was thinking, but I did here a distinct ,"what the f***?", come from him in passing. I went up and did a couple runs on the 4x course, but the pain was too much, and my riding for the rest of the weekend was done. The 4x was prime, and dispite everyone thinking it was going to be a one line follow the leader course. it wasn't. There was some fantastic riding. Jr. even opted to pull out his xc bike once more and give it a go. the heat and the lack of food and water, (I warned him), caused him to get a little sick, but he still ran all his runs and finished up 4th. congrats to morgan and jordan who made some great runs. I can honestly say one thing. Jordan Richards is just getting faster and faster. I am gald to see that he still has fun and keeps improving. Kudos to Morgan for another year well done with the series win. Best crash goes to Adam, who I thought was going to save it, but ended up wearing a leg brace for the rest of the weekend. Heal quick Buddy. Most exciting crap your pants crash goes out to chad, who we all thought met his end trying to touch the sun. There wasnt a sound made till the guys started getting up. Our pal eric pulled off a respictable 3rd. And John Sr. almost pulled of a second place, but ended up 3rd due to a last turn pass. Not bad for a guy 2 times the age of any one else on the podium. Mike and his team at Races edge put on not just a class event, but one class series. The prize give aways were just primo and plenty. The people at snowshoe are just some of the friendliest and most helpfull people on the circuit. from the trail hands right doen to the waiters and waitresses. I am reall going to miss a lot of the regulars over the winter, but can only hope all goes good and we get to gether next year. Yhere are plenty of roumers going around about new and better venues, we can only hope. the DH was very competitiv , and some of the times blistering.I hope somone donates a couple of bucks to the cheap asses who keep sanbagging in the sport classes because they are too cheap to by an expert licence. it is not fair to the true sports to have to compete against you, buy a freaking licencee!!! Jon jr ended up in 6th, and big John rocked his DH hardtail for probably the last time. he is moving up to Full Suspension next year and probably a few podiums. well, thats enough for now. I am kind of tired so enjoy the story, spelling errors and all.later . Rick
