Well Heres a break down of the whats , wheres, whys ect. First of all let me explain my motives. This is not some scheme to help me make sales. I wouldnt care if this dod not generate a single cent. This award , just as our dedication to this sport is a labor of love.Besides having the Shop I still work a Real job, 40 hours a week. The shop although growing and almost self supportive makes barely enough to help pay for our racing trips. I am doing this to help give others the help and maybe the edge that I never had.
Danny, also known as Doc, Passed away about 5 years ago at he young age of 43 due to from complications from Diabetes. Probably none of you had known him. He was my uncle, a childhood playmate, since he was only a year older than me, but most of all an inspiration. Dan was about 5"2 125# of pure Pit Bull. He was the champion to the underdog. He was the average guys David to the worlds Goliath. I seen him take on 2 huge guys one time when we about 17 in a fight as well as beating some slimey corperate types and lawyers using his cunning and perseveriance with his never ending take charge personality. He never rode a Mountain bike, but envied those who took the chance to bomb a DH course. He was a long time fan of Moto cross. I remember fondly all the times we snuck into the Unadilla Race as well as the pits to see our heros.
so now the how. it's just this simple. head on down to the Mid-Atlantic series finals at Snowshoe wv, Sept 10-11th, sign up for the Downhill race and do your best to be the fastest new college or trade school freshmen in the expert class or the beginner/sport class and you win a crisp $100.00 bill as well as some other off to school schwag. There will be one award for expert and one for the sport/beginner. You do not have to win you just have to be the fastest freshman guy or gal. I know a buck aint a lot twords school expences, but it is a start. Maybe next year we can spend a bit more time trying to get some more cash.but for now it is coming out of my pocket. Mike Hartlove has been kind enough to help us get this thing rolling and allowing us to offer it at his event , so we feel he is as much a part of this as we are.n Please bring your college ID or some sort of proof you are in school so you can get your cash on the spot, otherwise you may have to wait till you can proove you are a frosh.
So please bag the weekend and get your Butt to snowshoe, support the Racers edge crew, and maybe make some money for books or food. it is easier than selling blood. Believe me I know!!! |
