  Hey all,

We just got back from the Maryland State Championships held at the Wisp resort, and I had a blast. I don’t know what it is about this place. Maybe the fact that the course is a bit on the short side and not super tech that makes it a bit less intimidating. I don’t care who you are, everyone rides good at Wisp. It is one of those courses that is fast, but the faster you go the more difficult it is to master, But once you do master it you are a rocket. Everyone seem to step up the fun and down the seriousness at this event. This leaves some extra time to socialize. A little bit of trail riding, hitting the resorts bar and restaurants, Extra time in the pool and the hot tub, and the end all of the weekend the go-kart track. Nothing makes you feel better than turning a great time at the track with the exception of being told to leave the track and never come back because you were driving a little bit too aggressive. The attentants will yell at you and tell you that this is not a race and there are no prizes, but what does that mean to us. We race NORBA events, we are used to no prizes!!

Great things happened for the Kranzel bike team. Youngest Team member Gabe Camut pulled off several super dual runs. His final run was almost perfect and netted him a well deserved Maryland State Championship. Chad Knavel pulling his first clean and trouble free run on a 26” Bike yanked a State Championship right out of the hands of his much more seasoned competition. There were some great showings all around. Kudos to Jason Gunther on his twin second places. I think the series can be his. No one I know deserves this more. It was good to see him his pup and his future Mrs. Out and about. People like this make our sport look golden. Great showings to Kirk, James, Kent, You did yourselves and the team proud. A special throw out to my little brother Jon Sr. He missed the top spot by a mere 13 seconds. Most of his competition probably doesn’t realize is Jon lost his chain into the beginning of the very first section of the course and had to pump and paddle his butt off down the hill. It is only a matter of time till he holds it all together to hit the top step. I have a feeling it is going to be real soon.

Well life has led me back to the land of Daniel Boon and absolutely no fun. I am so looking forward to the next Mac race. I will be flying in for that one so any donations in the Ricks “Flight for freedom “ fund would be appreciated. Look forward on info for the Second annual Kranzel Bike / Racers edge, Daniel J Kranzel Memorial Scholarship being given away to the fastest new college freshman rider. This prize will be awarded at the final Mac race being held at Bear Creek in September.

Until later little ones, and may the Farce be with you, and also with you. Amen!!
