Derek Kranzel delivers the 2 punch KO.
I want to take a moment to give a huge shout out to D.rock. Derek Doesn,t own a downhill bike, has only ever rode some Dh runs one day, but Derek put a major hurtin on his peers two weekends in a row in two pretty big races.
Derek who weighs in about 150# decided to take my bike which is set up for a 250# person on a trip to the wisp resort to give racing a try. This was the Maryland state Championships and Dereks first attempt at DH.
Big D proceeded to lay waste to the rest of his class and pulled off the win. This win qualified him for the National championships in vermont the next week. Derek once again blew everyone off the map not only to finish 1st, but to have the 6th fastest time of al the beginner and sports classses. All this on his 2nd ever race.
Congrats buddy, hopefully next year you will have your own bike , set up for you. |
