Cody Warren and JD Swanguen Top the Podium at NMBS #1
It was a Cody Warren and JD Swanguen at the opening round of the National Mountain Bike Series in Fontana, CA this past weekend with both riders taking wins in their respective divisions.
Cody’s practice runs were ultra smooth and he was having a great time on the course. “It’s actually a fun track!” said Cody. “It flows well and has its share of technical sections”. Sunday’s qualifier was a different story as Cody suffered a flat, putting him dead last in the qualifying runs. Since he qualified with the slowest time, he would be seeded first to take his final race run. This ended up being a blessing in disguise as he had a clear course the entire way down the hill. His fast time of 2:14.62 put him in the hot seat where he sat through the remaining 45 riders who went down the hill after him
17-year-old JD Swanguen schooled the competition in the Junior Expert divisions by winning both the Downhill and Mountain Cross. Not only did this young ripper take the win in the super competitive Junior Expert Downhill class, but he posted the fastest Expert time of the day. Can you say “Pro Potential”?
Next stop for these riders on the NMBS calendar is June 9-11 in Sugar Hill, NC.
