The Whistler Bike Park Has A New Altered Ego
Whistler, BC - , the summer snowboard and ski camp that started it all, is proud to add a Downhill (DH) Mountain Bike Camp to it's method of mayhem starting June, 2006. Based in Whistler, the Camp of Champions is one of the only mountain bike camps in the world operating in the world famous "Whistler Mountain Bike Park". Armed with Norco's legendary "A-Line" bikes and coaching from Whistler's hottest local bikers, the Camp of Champions is set to provide riders with more vertical to rip in a week, than they would get in a year riding anywhere else.
This camp is based on everything I used to skip school to do" according to camp founder Ken Achenbach. The Camp of Champions (COC) changed what snowboard and ski afflicted people thought of summer and summer camps. "Now with our DH Mountain Bike Camp you get coached on how to rip and yell 'Coming by ya' to your friends instead of sitting at a fire singing 'Come by ya' laughs Achenbach. After riding in the bike park all day you can also throw your meat off a 160 foot bridge bungee jumping, play paintball, thrash the Whistler skate park, wakeboard and more. It's all included in the camp fee.
"There isn’t a camp anywhere that can give mountain bikers an experience like we can. Having ridden BMX since 1978 and buying my first mountain bike in 1980, the Whistler Bike Park has made DH mountain biking into the most fun thing you can do on dirt. Every morning you just can't wait for the lifts to fire up and you are begging for one more run when they close down at the end of the day. The COC Mountain Bike camp opens June 15th, offering both 5-day and 8 day camps starting Thursday every week for five weeks. Packages start as low as $968 US or $1,150 CAN.
