Rider owned bike company, Transition Bikes announces their new prototype frame called the BottleRocket. Designed for the new evolution of freeriding, the BottleRocket is all about flow and style while riding. The progression of trail building has changed dramatically in the last few years. Long gone are the days of building trails with seven foot drops to flats and ultra steep fall line trails where you lock your brakes up the entire way down. Trails are starting to look more like big mountain slopestyle parks with wall rides, big gap doubles, hips and berms.

“Because of this, we found that most large travel freeride bikes were simply overkill and merely slowed you down. The BottleRocket was designed with short chain stays, low bottom bracket, super sloping top tube and short seat tube to make it easy to flick around, throw tricks and flow trails with tons of speed, says Kevin Menard, owner of Transition Bikes.”

“We don’t want to call it just a slopestyle bike because it can do so much more than that, and it is proving to be the perfect ride for many of the new progressive trails being built. The BottleRocket follows our philosophy of less is more in a burly package like our Preston FR short travel freeride trail bike. It is very hard to categorize this bike because there isn’t really a category that defines it properly right now. Look at last years Crankworkx Slopestyle comp and you saw many of the top pros running shorter travel bikes with single crown forks. So instead of taking a short travel all mountain bike and calling it a slopestyle bike we started from scratch and created something incredibly strong with geometry perfectly suited for this new style of riding, says Menard.”

The BottleRocket incorporates a one-piece rocker arm yoke that makes the rear end incredibly laterally stiff for superb performance railing corners and pedaling hard. Other features include 15” seat tube length for all sizes, 1.5” head tube and ISCG tabs for chainguides. Look for the BottleRocket to have a mid 2006 release and be available for purchase around July. Available with the Manitou Swinger 4-Way Coil for around $1149 or Fox DHX 5.0 air/coil for an upcharge.

Transition Bikes is a rider owned company based out of Ferndale Washington. Started by Kyle Young and Kevin Menard in 2002, Transition Bikes has grown tremendously from a reputation of building solid freeride bikes designed by people that ride day in and day out and know what real riders want. Transition bikes now has six bikes to choose from to meet specific rider’s needs as well as a full line of components.
