WHAT A JOKE ! The bike is just sick!"

This was the response from Mick Hannah today when I asked him how things were going. He is set for big things this year, with a new team, a number of new sponsors and the continuation of his some of his 2005 relationships.

The 'Judge' frame he will use in the DH is by far the biggest change for the year, but Mick could not be happier. "I rode the Judge at Rotorau (Oceania Championships) for really the first time in full race set-up. It is without doubt the best bike I have ever had under me. It is great through the technical and is so stable at speed it's ridiculous," said Hannah. "The Boxxer's are just so smooth up front that - it eats up big drops"

Mick qualified fastest at the Oceania's, but after using his short time in Rotorua to nail down the track that will be home to the 2006 World Championships, he had no legs left for the final race run.

"It was a bit of shame after pulling a good run in qualifying - the track is great and will suit a whole bunch of different riders. I am happy to have gotten a number of runs on it though, as it is going to help with planning set-ups for the Worlds," said Mick.

"I am so looking forward to getting up to Sea Otter with the rest of The Cut - it will be great to get into the season and I have always had a bit of success at Sea Otter".

With so many changes for Mick in 2006, we asked for a comment on each of his sponsors:

Cannondale (Bike) www.thecutriders.com- "When I heard there was a chance to ride for Cannondale, I just jumped at it. The brand has so much heritage and experience. The bikes I will be using this year are not just good - they are great (even by Cannondale's standards). The Judge is the perfect bike for DH and Freeride, and there are probably only a couple of race rigs out there that can make that claim".

Thor (Race, Freeride and Casual Clothing) www.thormx.com - "Bob Maynard has always been great to me and I love the Thor product. One of the first things we even asked Cannondale was whether I could keep Thor onboard and I am stoked to be with them again this year".

Freestyle (Watches) www.freestyleusa.com - "I love the watches. They look great and they keep me from missing my flight times. I can't wait to get involved with designing some MTB specific models for the future... maybe something with a built in multi-tool, ha ha".

Utopia Optics (Googles, Eyewear) www.utopiaoptics.com - "The Utopia goggles are sweet - they look good and they are designed for riders".

SixSixOne (Helmets, Protective Gear, Shoes) sixsixone.com - "Really stoked to have signed with SixSixOne this year. The Flight Helmet has an awesome fit and as soon as I tried on the Pro Pressure Suit I knew my days of riding with armour were over. There is a reason all the top pro's are using SixSixOne - it's just the best gear".
