Race Face Components Inc., one of North Americas leading producers of high-end mountain bike components and apparel, is proud to announce the Re-Signing of Freeride phenom, Darren Berrecloth to its pro team. Signed until December 2008, Darren will continue to ride Race Face’s line of high performance componentry and clothing.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Darren for another three years” says Race Face president, Craig Pollack. “As Darren’s first sponsor in the mountain bike industry, we’ve had a very long association with him and have watched him progress into one of the sport’s premiere riders. We’re all looking forward to see what the future holds for Darren over the next few years and are very excited to be there to support him with a line of gear that has proven capable of withstanding his abusive riding style”.
Race Face first signed Darren in June 2002, when he was relatively unknown in the mountain bike industry. Coming from a competitive freestyle BMX background, Darren was the first rider to showcase BMX moves on big mountain lines. A third place finish in the 2002 Redbull Rampage officially put him on the industry’s who’s who list and Darren soon penned deals with Specialized, Manitou and Adidas Eyewear.
Darren’s list of accomplishments within the mountain bike industry continues to grow with each passing year. He consistently podiums at Freeride/Slopestyle comps, has standout segments in the industry’s best mountain bike films and has been featured in countless magazines including being named one of the “25 Coolest People Now” by Outside Magazine. Darren has been named BIKE magazine Rider of the Year two years in a row and has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus award for Outstanding Alternative Sportsperson for 2005. Most recently, Darren has been featured in a half hour episode of “Stunt Junkies” – a new television series which will premiere on the Discovery Channel in February.
“I’m stoked to be riding for Race Face for another three years” says Darren. “The quality of the gear is awesome. I ride really hard and it’s really nice not having to worry about whether or not your components or clothing is gonna hold up. I haven’t had any problems in the past four years I’ve been with Race Face and I’m really looking forward to the next three.”
In addition to riding, Darren will be pulling double duty at Race Face, designing signature clothing items. Darren is currently working on a signature glove with future plans for jerseys, shorts and pants. This is an exciting project and will continue to lay Darren’s stamp on the industry as an innovator and leader within the sport. Look out for Darren’s new signature items in Race Face’s Spring/Summer 2007 line.
